Madilynn Becker of rural Herington was crowned Miss Kansas Teen USA 2021 on April 10th, 2021, which also happened to be the same day as Madilynn’s 17th Birthday. Madilynn was also recognized as the Overall Active Wear winner that evening.
Madilynn is currently a Senior at Herington High School where she has been her Class President for the past 4 years and a 3 time State Qualifier in Forensics. She and her Improvised Duet Acting (IDA) partner took 2nd in the State at the 2021 2A Kansas Forensics State Championship in May. She is the Captain of her high school Dance Team and a member of the Varsity Basketball, Varsity Track, and the 2019 and 2020 Wheat State League Championship Varsity Volleyball team that finished 30-3 for the 2020 season setting a new school record. Her 2020 Volleyball team was also recognized by the Kansas Volleyball Association for their outstanding work in the classroom as the team averaged a 3.98 GPA. Madilynn is also a member of National Honor Society, FBLA, FCCLA, STUCO, HOSA, the school administration picked Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) as well as the Drama Club where she most recently played Chief in “Get Smart”, Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors” and will star as Anastasia in the musical “Anastasia” in November the week before Miss Teen USA. As a member of FBLA she qualified and competed at Nationals as a Freshman. Madilynn finished her Junior year with a 4.0 GPA which includes the 9 hours of college credits she finished this spring. Along with finishing her Senior year currently, she is also working on an additional 12 hours of college credit this Fall and will enroll in addition classes this Spring.
Madilynn is a former member of the National Cross Country Championship team and has played flute and piccolo for many years as a Band and Pep Band member.
Madilynn is also an active community volunteer, organizing an area Christmas toy drive that provided gifts for several area children and a daycare with 2 classmates this past December. In March she and a classmate spread thankfulness and kindness in the community by delivering cookies and brownies to the local police station, fire station, City Hall and other locals around town as well as working within elementary classrooms to help young students understand how they can make a difference by being kind. When Madilynn was 9 1/2 she founded the charity organization “Soles 2 Give” after an incident with a fellow classmate whose family could not afford to purchase shoes. Her organization, which provides school and PE shoes to youth in need in the area, also promotes and encouraging kids to stay active. She has also learned how a pair of new shoes can change the confidence of a student.
Madilynn is partially deaf in her right ear and is also 1 of 12 documented cases of having skull bone lesions. She has learned to embrace these differences and overcome the challenges that come with them that make here beautifully-unique.
Madilynn is a licensed CNA and enjoys working and learning from the elderly at her job as a CNA at a Nursing Home. In the future she hopes to bring confidence to people’s smiles as a Dental Hygienist, which is why one of her favorite quotes is “Let your Smile change the World, but don’t let the World change your smile”.
