On the evening of December 20, 2010, in Lawrence, Kansas, an enthusiastic audience welcomed Miss Cowley County, Bethany Gerber, as the new Miss Kansas USA 2010. Bethany was born in Wichita, and spent the first five years of her life in Rose Hill. She and her family then moved to Winfield, Kansas where they still reside. The 20-year-old is a junior at the University of Oklahoma majoring in Industrial Engineering. Bethany is working toward her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and hoping to obtain experience working with broadcasting companies. She is a member of the Theta Gamma chapter of Delta Delta Delta as well as the OU Society of Women Engineers and OU Engineers Without Borders. Bethany has also been actively involved with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and raising awareness for Invisible Children.

In her free time, Bethany enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs, teaching herself to play acoustic guitar, and working out. She loves reading, running, traveling and watching movies. Bethany and her older brother Beau are the children of Dennis and Lynn Gerber.

Bethany plans to use the title of Miss Kansas USA 2010 to help raise awareness about the importance of leading an active lifestyle and of maintaining a healthy diet in order to live long, happy lives. She has always had a passion for health and fitness and lives each day by the anonymous quote, “Take care of your body as if you will live forever; take care of your soul like you will die tomorrow.” In addition, she believes that each of us is born with a purpose and she hopes to find a way to inspire and encourage others to use their God-given talents to fulfill that purpose. She is happily available for interviews, speaking engagements, emceeing events, autograph signing, or any other hosted event.

She will represent Kansas at the 2010 Miss USA® Pageant this May in Las Vegas. Miss USA® will be televised live on NBC.
