On
December 19, 15 year old Jaymie Stokes was awarded a
great honor and to her a Christmas present she will never
forget; she was crowned Miss Kansas Teen USA 2007 in
a place where she felt comfortable and familiar with;
the Lied Center in Lawrence, Kansas. Growing up she had
dance recitals on that very stage. Never in her wildest
dreams did she ever think she would be standing center
stage experiencing a once in a lifetime achievement.
Born
to Stan and Donna Stokes of Lenexa, Kansas, Jaymie
is the youngest of three girls. Erika 22 is a promising
hairstylist,
Shawna 19 a freshman on the Deans list at Baker Univ. and
Jaymie an honor roll sophomore at Shawnee Mission West.
Jaymie is a lifelong resident of Lenexa and has a large
family with
four generations of Kansans. Special mention to her dedicated
black and yellow Labradors Sadie and Gus her pets that
have been with her most of her life.
Growing
up in Kansas, Jaymie has played basketball and
soccer for many years. She swam for the Lenexa
Lazers and took dance lessons
at Miss Marias. She loves to camp, canoe, fish, water ski,
tube, snow ski, travel and of course loves roller coasters.
This summer Jaymie will attend Eagle University leadership
camp for a week and prepare for Miss Teen USA.
Jaymie
shares her Miss Kansas Teen USA title with her loyal
commitment to her
high school. She is a dedicated and very active sophomore
at Shawnee Mission West--home of the Vikings! She is first
and foremost an all “A” honor roll student.
Jaymie is on the Varsity dance team with eleven months
a year of
practice and lots of fundraising. She is on the swim team
practicing 3 hours a day per week in the winter/spring.
Jaymie is a member of the pep club, PTSA, and JAWS (Join
Active
West Students) which does volunteer work at various locations.
Jaymie is a member of Holy Trinity church. In her spare
time she models, baby-sits and pet-sits.
Volunteering and charity events come easily to Jaymie since
she has been involved since early childhood. Disabled veterans,
big brothers and big sisters, Susan G Kolman breast cancer,
Relay for life (American cancer society, Katrina victims,
fight for Aids, American heart assoc., march of dimes,
DARE program, and now raising monies for the victims of
the Greensburg
tornado disaster are some of the ways Jaymie likes to help.
The
love and support of her family, friends and community have
given this very grounded and responsible teen the opportunity
to represent her state the best she can. We wish Jaymie
Melissa Stokes, Miss Kansas Teen USA the very best.
